The April Fools Joke That Made Many Believe AeroPress Was Banned
April is a month of great joy. It is where spring starts to really come into the picture, and the winter blues start to really melt away. It’s also the month in which pranks are played. Well, at least one day of pranks are had, but that can start an all-out war. You usually don’t hear much in the case of brewing coffee, but this time around, several people bought into the notion that you can’t brew your own AeroPress coffee on a plane.
How could an airline outright ban someone? Well, the notion of brewing your own artisan coffee on a plane is ridiculous. However, it does bring up the notion of quality coffee on a plane. In the case of this story, however, the staff at “Sprudge.com”, really took on journalistic satire. The banning of the home brewing kit is a hilarious element that really sounds like it would be possible. It will immediately remind you of the movie “Airplane” with the notion of spilling hot coffee while in turbulent skies. Even though this sounds like something that could happen, it turns out that it’s nothing more than a prank that was perpetuated by the staff writers.
The Reality of AeroPress
First of all, you cannot make this on a plane. You can’t really brew a cup of coffee because you can’t power the hot water. You could possibly buy some from the stewards of the plane, but making your own with this press? Not possible. You could however take it to a hotel and make a fresh cup in your hotel room or wherever you are able to do so safely. The notion of banning this option on a plane is definitely hilarious, but it’s not reality.
At the end of the day, if you want a good cup of coffee, you’re going to have to wait. In the air, you just can’t savor the brew that comes with the AeroPress, sadly. But did US Airways really ban it? Not really. It’s good humored ribbing from enthusiasts of coffee, and one that is definitely worth a chuckle as you sip a cup from your press today.
